Download VisibleHours-Setup.exe

The tray agent is a real Windows program for company-owned PCs. Download unsigned VisibleHours-Setup.exe, send the employee notice first, then paste the Team invite or /join code into Setup. That paste is pairing — Settings · Devices does not mint a pairing code. Pause and Quit are one click on the visible tray. Interval stills and recording sessions stay off by default — not an always-on DVR. Canonical site: visiblehours.com. There is no Mac, Linux, iOS, or Android agent, and no Microsoft Store listing.

This installer is unsigned

VisibleHours-Setup.exe is a prebuilt unsigned PE. Windows SmartScreen will warn (“Windows protected your PC”). That is expected. Choose More info → Run anyway. Code signing is Operations-only and is not in this download. Do not hide the tray icon to get around the warning — the icon is how people know tracking is on. Pause and Quit stay one click on that tray.

Before anyone runs Setup.exe on a company PC, send the employee notice. There is no silent install without that notice. Signed-in Help has the same steps at /help/download.

No installer? Use the portable build — same unsigned tray agent, no setup wizard: VisibleHours-Portable.exe (84,914,387 bytes). SmartScreen will warn on that file too.

Developer pack (source)

Electron source, package-windows.ps1, and the employee notice. Only needed if you want to rebuild the installer yourself. Not a signed binary and not a store listing.

On the company Windows PC

  1. Send the employee notice first. There is no silent install path.
  2. Download VisibleHours-Setup.exe (or the portable exe).
  3. SmartScreen → More info → Run anyway. The warning is expected on this unsigned build.
  4. Finish the one-click installer. The tray icon should appear and stay visible.
  5. Paste the API URL and the Team invite or /join code into Setup. That paste is pairing — Settings · Devices does not mint a pairing code and does not push the installer.
  6. Leave the icon visible. Pause and Quit stay one click.

After install — idle, pause, reconnect

Idle is no keyboard or mouse after the minutes Operations sets on Settings · Idle, while the tray is still tracking. The tray closes that Idle block and tracks again on its own. Pause is one click on the tray — intentional stop. Resume is the same menu. Quit is the same menu. Offline is a stale last-seen on Team, not Pause. A network blip keeps activity queued and shows an honest error; the tray retries. This page cannot push the agent onto every PC.

Interval stills and short recording sessions stay off by default — not an always-on DVR. Operations turns a tier on after another notice. Pairing stays the invite paste from Team or /join, not a code from Settings · Devices.

After sign-in, Ask “download”, “setup.exe”, “install agent”, “get the agent”, “install windows agent”, or “download setup” returns here. Ask “reconnect agent”, “agent offline”, or “who is paused” opens Team. Ask “idle minutes” or “idle pause” opens Settings · Idle. Ask “device pairing” or “open devices” opens Settings · Devices — that card does not mint a pairing code. Ask “idle vs pause”, “how to install”, “download tutorial”, or “smartscreen” opens Help. Public search stays on this page — it will not install the agent for you or send outreach. Ask “signed microsoft store app”, “silent install without notice”, or “mac agent” is refused.

What this download is not

  • Not a signed installer and not a Microsoft Store app. SmartScreen is the honest warning.
  • Not a silent install. People see the tray. Send the notice before Setup.exe.
  • Not a Mac, Linux, iOS, or Android agent. Company Windows PCs are the surface.
  • Not a pairing-code mint. Settings · Devices does not mint a pairing code. Paste the Team invite or /join code into Setup.
  • Not an always-on DVR. Interval stills and recording sessions stay off by default.
  • Not a hidden service. If someone cannot see the tray, tracking is not running.
  • Not outreach. This page will not email employees or install the agent on every PC.
  • Not analytics tags. This site does not add Google Analytics or a tag manager.
  • Not a competitor comparison. This page only names VisibleHours.

Signed-in tutorial: Install the unsigned Setup.exe. Public guide: How to install the VisibleHours Windows tray agent. Employee notice: /notice.

Full notes: repo docs/windows-agent.md. Linux/CI can produce the unsigned .exe with wine + electron-builder (npm run build:agent). Headless smoke without Windows: npm run smoke:agent.
